Self portrait of woman wearing a hat

Self portrait by Maureen Clark
Charcoal on paper
NFS

While on chemotherapy, having lost my hair, I always wore a hat. I couldn’t stand seeing myself without hair, and certainly didn’t want anyone else to! I often could not sleep at night, so as not to disturb anyone else in the house, drawing was a quiet occupation I could do. My brother thought this drawing was of an old man. I probably felt like one!
